[Men's Cross Country] Adelman Named NAIA All-American

Comments

Winfield, Kan. - Southwestern College junior Frank Adelman (Yukon, OK) has been named an NAIA All-American following his 30th place finish at the NAIA Nationals Cross Country race held earlier this month.  Frank ran a time of 24:53 over the 8,000M course, a 1:57 faster than his time at last year's national race, which was held on the same course.

Adelman has had an outstanding 2011 as a whole.  He was named KCAC Runner-of-the-Week three times, as well as being honored as the KCAC Champions of Character award recipient in men's cross country from Southwestern College.  His personal best time of 24:39 was ran at home, in the Southwestern College NAIA Mid-State Classic.  This time was the second fastest time by a Southwestern College runner in meet history.

"Frank ran a tremendous race at nationals and in fact his 24:53th was the second fastest time at the national meet in the history of Southwestern cross country", said head cross country coach Jim Helmer.  "He gave himself a chance to be All-American from the start and was in the top 30 the entire race.  His tremendous resolve and determination carried him through the finish in 30th place, and we couldn't be prouder or happier for him.  He led us to 18th place in the team standings, and it was a great day for our program."
